Developing Communication Skills – Both Written and Spoken

Developing your communication skills will make you much more
effective in your business.

Good use of words and confidence in speaking and writing about
your product and your business can be developed. You don’t need
to be a communications major or expert on speaking or writing,
but once you can speak with ANYONE  and write confidently about
your business and products, you will see your success level rise.

The good news – you can develop these skills through practice
and repetition. The more you speak and write about your
business and products, the better you will become and the
more natural you will sound and the easier your writing will
become.

First, start with your own hot button about your products and
business. Why did you get involved? Develop your “script” or
“60 second elevator speech” or short blog post around this.
Forget facts, figures, and statistics. Instead, share stories.

Sharing stories has been proven by scientists that by telling a
story it can “plant emotions, thoughts and ideas into the brain of
the listener.” The bottom line – those versed in writing and telling
stories have the power to influence others; stories can activate
the readers/listeners brain, making them feel as though they are
experiencing it first-hand, which in turn influences the emotions
you hope to have them feel. I.e. they are more apt to buy your
product and/or subscribe to your service.

Participate in every conference call and interactive webinar that
you can until you can talk and write about your business in your
sleep. Ingrain the company story in your brain. This will help
you communicate effectively about what you do and what you have
to offer.
